Drinking water might not be the first thing on your mind before tapping with EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), but it’s something you definitely need to consider.
Although some EFT practitioners do not heed the advice to drink water before a session, it is still good practice to ensure good hydration for a number of reasons. I always recommend clients have some water before and after sessions, or during a session if their mouth gets dry or they need a break – all that tapping is hard work and can take its toll!
Here are 3 reasons why you should always drink water before tapping with EFT:
Reason 1: Is lack of water causing the problem?
Dehydration can cause a wide range of ailments, including anxiety, headaches and lack of focus. Therefore, if you are seeing an EFT practitioner due to any of these symptoms, it would be sensible to stay hydrated, just in case lack of fluids is having any adverse effects.
Keeping hydrated will also help you to concentrate and stay focused during your session.
Reason 2: Increase in sweating & dry mouth during EFT sessions
During an EFT session, some uncomfortable emotions may come up, which could cause some feelings of stress. When we’re stressed, it’s usual for us to sweat a little more, or our mouths could become dry, so it’s always worth having a glass of water nearby.
Reason 3: Water is the perfect energy conductor for EFT
On a deeper level, the human body is made up of up to 75% water and is a fundamental element of the human body. Not only that, but EFT practitioners are working with the body’s electromagnetic energy and water is the perfect conductor to ensure energy flows along the meridians.
There is some interesting work on water energy done by Japanese scientist Dr Masaru Emoto, notably the following 4 principles;
- Water is the life force and it is sensitive to all vibration.
- The entire universe is vibrating and everything has a unique frequency (sound).
- The Universe is naturally in balance and harmony, and discord has a destructive vibration.
- The words “love” and “gratitude” form the fundamental principles of the laws of nature and also of the phenomenon of life.
